What can you do?
Be Proactive! Print, sign, and send the Parents as Full Parents as Full Partners in Education Form to your school! Without it, you'll NEVER KNOW.
Find out exactly what books your child will be assigned this year. Then, read the books yourself or if you do not have time, read the parental reviews here at www.classkc.org as well as the frequently asked questions.
A common myth is that the problem is solved! It is not! The reading assignments, as recently as summer of 2005 contained many novels that were either pornographic or which had not gone through the textbook selection process. Click here to read more about the summer 2005 compulsory reading assignments for Blue Valley kids.
If you wish to opt out of a particular book, or the compulsory study of adult content in other courses too, fill out the Student Exemption Form and take it to the school. This will legally require the school to proactively inform you when adult content is used in classroom books, discussions, assigments, movies, or other curricular resources.
